This policy explains how Bricktraders St Albans Limited, trading as Bricktraders (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects and uses your personal information when you shop with us. We are the data controller for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

When you place an order, we collect the information needed to fulfil it, such as:
- Your name, delivery address and (where different) billing address
- Your email address and telephone number
- Details of the order you have placed
- Payment confirmation from our payment provider (we do not store your full card details ourselves)
Why we collect it, and what we don’t use it for
We only hold your information to process and fulfil your order, and to meet our accounting and tax record-keeping obligations. We do not use your information for marketing purposes, we do not send marketing emails or newsletters based on this information, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
The lawful bases we rely on are:
- Performance of a contract — to take your order, take payment, arrange delivery and deal with any returns or queries.
- Legal obligation — to keep accounting and VAT records as required by HMRC and UK company law.
Who we share it with
We only share your information where it is necessary to fulfil your order or where we are legally required to do so:
- Courier partners, so they can deliver your order to you.
- UK authorities (such as HMRC), where required by law.
We do not share your information with any other third parties, and we never share it for marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep order information for as long as necessary to fulfil your order, deal with any warranty or returns matters, and to meet our statutory accounting and tax obligations (currently a minimum of 6 years for financial records, in line with HMRC requirements).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it for accounting or legal purposes.
- Ask us to restrict or object to how we use your information.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data — see ico.org.uk.
